Scales are the armor worn by Poseidon’s mariners. The Scales were created in anticipation of the war to come. It is unclear if Poseidon himself crafted the armors. The Scales contain Orichalcum, a metal known in Antiquity as mountain copper. In the Saint Seiya universe, it is considered the strongest metal on earth. Poseidon Scale The Sea God possesses his own Scale, the Poseidon Scale. The Scale is a golden orange, a likely indicator of the presence of Orichalcum. Its design is rather sober, more martial than ceremonial, with coverage similar to that of a Sea General Scale. Its resistance though was far superior, and it took the arrow of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth imbued with the cosmos of four Bronze Saints to pierce its headpiece. Surplices are the armors worn by the 108 Specters, the army of the god Hades. They are equivalent to Athena's Cloths, Pallas Chronotectors, Odin's God Robes, Eris Leaf, and Poseidon's Scales. According to the legend, Surplices are made from minerals from the Underworld, and they represent monsters from various mythologies and literary works. The Bronze Saints are the lowest class in terms of power, of Athena's Saints. They wear the Bronze Cloth and posses the basic skill of a Saint. Their mastery in Cosmo is relatively limited and they display superhuman skills that are less impressive than those of higher ranked Saints. They are able to reach Mach 1 (the speed of sound), and to produce a hundred attacks per second.
