His code of honor is to choose not to fall in battle even if it means his death, a family vow which has been held in the long tradition passed from generations. However, Hanayama's greatest weakness is his low speed. Description: Iron Michael was the heavyweight boxing champion. In the anime, his name was changed to Ian McGregor. He respects strong rivals to the point of taking off his gloves to fight them. He also does not show contempt for challengers who fight using weapons or fighting three at a time. He loves boxing and idolizes the late God of Boxing, John L. Sullivan (renamed Johnny L. Donovan in the anime).

Koushou ShinogiFighting Style: Himokiri Karate & Shinogi-ryuu Karate
Description: Koushou Shinogi is a strong karate fighter that once fought Baki Hanma. The younger brother of Kureha Shinogi, and an expert in himokiri karate, a style where the attacks are not blunt blows, but slashes that cut the opponent. His special technique allows him to cut his opponents' nerves, blood vessels, and lymph ducts. He is known as the Cord-Cutting Shinogi and his strongest weapon are his fingers.
Techniques
- Cord-Cut: The fighter can sever the opponent's cords with a finger.
- Nukite: The fighter uses his hand which the user then thrust into the opponent's body like a spear.
- Seiken: It is a karate practitioner's straight punch, shot from waist.
- Sokutou: The user has to kick with the side of their foot, which can be aimed at softer part of the body such as the throat, abdominal regions or the ears.
- Eyeground Crush: The user first cover the opponent's eyes with the palm. Then, they proceed to punch their palm, breaking it along with the opponent's eyeground.
- Toe Kick: Karate kick with the second foot finger have be placed on top of the big toe, adding more penetration power to the blow.
Chiharu ShibaFighting Style: Brute Force
Description: Chiharu Shiba is a street fighter that doesn't seem to feel pain. He serves as the leader of the Tokkoutai racing gang. He is shown to be quite reckless and is prone to damaging himself to gain any advantage in a fight. He is also extremely durable and has a very powerful will, often relying on his extremely hard skull as his main method of attack. However, in spite of his determination and willpower he is likely one of the least skilled fighters at the Maximum Tournament, managing to sustain serious injuries during both of his matches. While not considered very strong, Chiharu is considered one of the most durable characters in the series.

Description: Kiyosumi Katou is known as the Dangerous Lion of Shinshinkai and a top student of Doppo Orochi, who believes karate should be no-holds barred and fights attacking areas such as the eyes. He can be a very brutal and cunning person. Not only is it characteristic for him to use dirty tricks, but also his fighting style is quite unusual. Katou doesn't fight like standard karateka and his movements are very dynamic. He also likes to perform the most brutal attacks on his opponents, and in critical situations he can use very unconventional actions, such as for example throwing a few bottles towards his opponent and then breaking them with a kick on his face.

Kureha ShinogiFighting Style: Athlete Style
Description: Kureha Shinogi is a surgical genius able to do surgical wonders, such as restarting a heart barehanded without piercing the skin, and a fighter with a powerful body. Kureha is the older brother of Koushou Shinogi and is known as the Super Doctor. He is very narcissistic and overly self-confident. He claims to have the perfect body with all the traits of several Olympic level athletes, the speed of a sprinter, the endurance of a marathon runner, the flexibility of an amateur wrestler and the reaction time and hitting strength of a heavyweight boxer.
Techniques
- Suplex: The user grabs his opponent with both arms from behind. Then he throws him backward and slams him to the ground.
- Dashin: It is a body tap with an explosion of shock waves through the entire body of an opponent.
- Slap: A move that strikes sharply with the open hand, bringing the hand with a sharp blow against something.
Izou MotobeFighting Style: Motobe-ryuu Jujutsu & Kenjutsu
Description: Izou Motobe is an old Japanese jujutsu master. In the first series, Motobe starts training Baki for his fight. He once lost to Yuujirou and now develops new techniques to use in a fight. He is a calm and pretty gloomy person who rarely shows any excitement. Izou is also a very intelligent person who has a great knowledge about the world of martial arts. He often watches fights and offers insight on unusual techniques being used.
Techniques
- Submission: The user grabs the opponent's arm, and then he slams him into the ground. With this move, the user can easly break his opponent's arm.
- Finger-Grab: The user grabs one of the opponent's finger and throws him.
- Dropkick: It is an attack where the wrestler jumps up and kicks the opponent with the soles of both feet.
- Tackle: The fighter uses his body or a shoulder to ram directly into the opponent.
- Headbutt: The user attacks his opponent face with a head or just causing their heads to collide.
- Rear Naked Choke: It is a chokehold in martial arts applied from an opponent's back.
- Bite: The user uses his teeth to tear a flesh and skin of the opponent's body.
