7 Unexplained Things In Persona 4 The Animation

Persona 4 The Animation is an anime television series based on PlayStation 2 video game, Persona 4. The story revolves around Yu Narukami, a young teenager who moves to the town of Inaba, where a mysterious string of murders is taking place. Upon discovering a distorted TV World and acquiring a mysterious power known as Persona, Yu and his friends decide to investigate the murders and save others from being killed. However, as persona 4 is an adaptation from the game and there are also many other series, watching this anime without knowing the game will leave many unanswered questions. Here are 7 unexplained things if we watch Persona 4 for the first time:

Velvet Room
The Velvet Room is a room located between consciousness and subconsciousness which is commonly featured in the Persona series. It often manifests itself differently in the game, but it is always covered in blue velvet and hosted by Igor. The purpose of the Velvet Room is always to manage Personas and use them in Fusion. The room is invisible to all except those with high spiritual sensitivity. In Persona 4, Igor performs an arcane ritual that fuses a certain number of Persona cards together to create a new one, which summons a Persona within the protagonist's soul.

Midnight Channel
The Midnight Channel, also known as the TV World and Mayonaka TV, is an urban legends. Its existence is spread through the town of Inaba through rumors. The rumor says that if someone looks into a TV that is switched off, alone, exactly at midnight on a rainy night. While you're staring at your own image, another person will appear on the screen. And they say that person's your soulmate.

Persona
A Persona is a manifestation of a Persona user's personality in the Persona series. It is similar to a Shadow. Shadows are malevolent manifestations of one's inner thoughts, while a Persona is a manifestation of the same feelings but tamed and trained. If an individual takes up a resolution in their heart, the Persona will undergo a metamorphosis into a stronger form.

Shadows
Shadows are the monsters in the Persona series. They are born from humans, and carry with them human emotions, which are mostly negative. Strong-willed Shadows attract lesser Shadows, which later create stronger Shadows. Shadows and Personas retain the same roles. Those who face their own personal Shadows in the Midnight Channel and accept them can use their power as Personas while those who deny their shadows as part of themselves will be attacked and killed by them or disappear completely if the person was malicious and cruel.

Persona User
A Persona user, also sometimes stylized as Persona-user, is a being, usually human, who has the supernatural ability to summon their Persona. After they obtain their Personas their physical and mental abilities increase to superhuman levels. In Persona 4 the Animation, Persona users crush their Tarot Cards to summon their Personas. When an ordinary Shadow gains an ego, it is able to become a Persona user as well.

Fog
The fog is a substance found in the Midnight Channel. The thick substance keeps the Shadows from going berserk, unless a Persona User is nearby. It is hard to travel through the fog due to being so thick, making it hard to see, as well as causing fatigue. Only those wearing glasses are able to see through the fog and move normally. Once a month the fog leaves the realm, causing the shadows to go berserk and try to kill any normal humans there.

Glasses
The fog in the Midnight Channel is extremely thick and usually anything within it cannot be seen with normal human eyes. Teddie creates glasses to pass the time when he is alone in the TV World. The glasses he makes have the special property of being able to see through the fog. He makes a pair of glasses whenever a new member joins the Investigation Team. He also states that he does not need a pair himself, as his eyes have contact lenses sewn in.
