Surplices are the armors worn by the 108 Specters, the army of the god Hades. They are equivalent to Athena's Cloths, Pallas Chronotectors, Odin's God Robes, Eris Leaf, and Poseidon's Scales. According to the legend, Surplices are made from minerals from the Underworld, and they represent monsters from various mythologies and literary works. Here is the list of Earthly Surplices:

Deep Surplice

The Deep Surplice is one of Surplices. It is based on the Deep Ones, creatures in the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.

Papillon Surplice

Myu's surplice is based on a butterfly, Papillon is French for butterfly. In many world legends, butterflies are associated with the souls of the dead and with resurrection.

Worm Surplice

The Worm Surplice is represents a common Worm, but is depicted as a multi headed sharp toothed Worm with a bigger center body. Worms often have a morbid connection with death and graves, as they are decomposers who feed on dead plant and animal matter.

Cyclops Surplice

Gigant's Surplice represents the mythological creature called Cyclops, and is depicted as a sitting one. The Cyclopses in mythology were originally 3 giant children of Gaia, the Earth, and Ouranos, the Sky, and each Cyclops only had one eye. However, due to their power and lack of beauty, Ouranos imprisoned them in Tartarus.

The Frog Surplice represents a common frog, and is depicted in a crawling posture. Frogs often hold an association with witches, either as familiars or as potion ingredients. Some species are additionally poisonous.

Bat Surplice

The Bat Surplice is based on the Bat and grant the wearer to have bat-like capabilities and attribute, such as staying upside-down under a rock cliff, the taste for blood, having extremely sharp teeth, and being able to control bats.

Caith Sith Surplice

Cheshire's Surplice is based on a Scottish-Celtic creature, the Cait Sith, which is a fairy or witch that takes the form of a giant black cat with a white patch on its chest. The Cait Sith was also thought to be the origin of the saying that cats have nine lives, as this was a characteristic of the creature.

Dullahan Surplice

The Irish dullahan is a type of unseelie fairie. It is headless, usually seen riding a black horse and carrying his head under one arm. The head's eyes are massive and constantly dart about like flies, while the mouth is constantly in a hideous grin that touches both sides of the head.

Sylph Surplice

The Sylph Surplice is one of Surplices. In the anime adaptation of the series this surplice grant the wearer an energy attack to hit Jamir's protective barrier.

Kageboshi Surplice

Kageboshi wears this surplice to roam the underworld in search of souls who somehow managed to maintain consciousness after death, and recruit them to the Underworld army serving Hades.

Atavaka Surplice

This is the Surplice of special Specter Avataka, who is in an elevated position among the 108 Demonic Stars of Hades' Army, and as such he is not subjected to Pandora's authority.
