Poseidon & The Mariners In Saint Seiya

In the same way, Athena has Saints, Poseidon has an army that has assisted him since the age of myth, the Mariners. With Poseidon's Undersea Temple serving as its base in the Marine Realm, it is formed by hundreds of low-ranking soldiers and commanded by seven powerful warriors known as Generals, whose Cosmo rivals that of a Gold Saint. These Generals don armors called Scales, which are said to be as resilient as the Gold Cloths and are modeled after marine creatures of legend. Their duty is to defend the Mammoth Pillars of the seven oceans (North & South Atlantic, North & South Pacific, Arctic, Antarctic, and Indian) that safeguard the Undersea Temple. The strongest pillar, the Main Breadwinner, is defended by Poseidon himself.

Sea King Poseidon / Julian Solo

Poseidon is the ruler of the seas who reincarnates on Earth by taking the body of a chosen member of the Solo family as a vessel for his soul. This Greek family is one of the wealthiest in the world and, enjoying Poseidon's blessing, has held hegemony over the seas for millennia. In the 20th century, the god takes the body of the family's young heir, a teenager named Julian Solo, and strikes the Earth with incessant rains to cleanse it of humans, whom he considers evil and unworthy of the blessings of the gods. He wishes to build a utopian society on top of the ruins once all humans are eradicated and to exact revenge on Athena for having sealed his soul after their last battle, two thousand years before. To this end, he holds Athena hostage in his Undersea Temple with the help of his army. He is ultimately sealed by Athena in her amphora.

Mermaid Thetis

A loyal servant of Poseidon, bound to him by a debt of life. Thetis was saved by Julian Solo when he was a little boy. She was then a beautiful fish, stranded on a beach, and Julian tossed her back into the sea. During Poseidon's kidnapping of Athena, she served as a mediator between the factions of Poseidon and Athena. Thetis is not one of the Mariner Generals, but a middle-ranking soldier, as she is superior to the Mariner rankless soldiers but subordinate to the Mariner Generals. Thetis turned back into a fish as she died and Julian, upon finding it, let it back into the ocean, finally laying her to rest.
Deathtrap Coral: Thetis manipulates the coral around her to ensnare and then asphyxiate her foes.

Poseidon's Mariners

The seven most powerful warriors of Poseidon and commander Generals of his army. Endowed with might that equals or surpasses that of a Gold Saint, the Mariner Generals wear the Scale armors, said to be as resilient as the Gold Cloths.

Sea Horse Baian

Baian was a powerful warrior, loyal to Poseidon in the same way as Athena's Saints pledged their loyalties to her. Faithful to his god, Baian was willing to risk his life to protect the Mammoth Pillar that was entrusted to him. His power was said to be the same or superior to that of the fabled Gold Saints of Athena. Baian's fighting style was powerful and deadly.

• God Breath: A gale of immensely powerful wind generated from his mouth.
• Rising Billows: Baian's strongest attack that was a powerful rising tidal wave capable of sending the enemy from the depths of the seas to its surface.

Scylla Io

Scylla Io is one of the Seven Marine Generals of Poseidon, and the guardian of the Pillar of the South Pacific Ocean. He is a sadist and egocentric men with no regard for his God's goals, following him only as an excuse to torture and humiliate his opponents. He can create numerous beasts out of his own Cosmos that blindly attack his foes with their various attributes and traits. This is known as Six Beasts of Scylla.

• Queen Bee's Stinger: Io summons a swarm of giant, monstrous bees that dash towards the opponent and pierce him multiple times.
• Eagle Clutch: Io createsan enormous eagle that slices and pierces the opponent with its claws.
• Serpent Strangler: Raising his fist, Io emanates a great quantity of Cosmos, which wraps around his foe before assuming the form of a colossal serpent that crushes its victim with its enormous body.
• Wolf's Fang: Io manifests a powerful and incredibly fast wolf that dashes towards the opponent, piercing and taking chunks of their flesh with it's fangs.
• Vampire Inhale: Io summons a swarm of countless vampire bats, which pierce the opponent's flesh and suck all of their blood.
• Grisly Slap: Io summons a colossal bear, which brings great harm to his opponents through it's attacks.
• Big Tornado: Io's strongest attack. Focusing a great quantity of his Cosmos, he is surrounded by a powerful aura of wind and lightning. Then, he releases an incredibly potent whirlwind of Cosmos which breaks opponent's defenses and disintegrates body on an atomic level.

Chrysaor Krishna

Chrysaor Krishna is one of the Seven Marine Generals of Poseidon, God of the Seas, and the guardian of the Pillar of the Indian Ocean. He is a wise man with a deep spiritual connection, having aligned himself with Poseidon due to a sympathy with the God's idea of a new and purified world.

• Flashing Lance: Krishna holds his Golden Lance with the both of his hands, and upon charging a great deal of his Cosmos and letting it flow through the lance, he rushes at his opponent at speeds exceeding the speed of light with a merciless series of blows.
• Kundalini: Upon entering a state of deep meditation and disconnection from the physical realm, Krishna can awaken the spiritual powers of the Kundalini. While in this state, Krishna's Cosmos raises tremendously, allowing him to defeat beings of the level of average Gold Saints with ease.
• Maha Roshini (Grand Light): While in the state of the Kundalini, Krishna can generate and manipulate rays of intense Cosmic Light for offensive and defensive purposes. While defending himself, he can create an invisible barrier of Cosmos that encompasses his entire body to repel attacks. He can also generate a wave of light that not only blinds any human who looks upon it but completely evaporates the victim's body.

Lymnades Caca

Known as the "Hunter of Hearts" and regarded as the most fearsome Mariner, Caca was responsible for the Antarctic Ocean Mammoth Pillar. He protected it by means of treachery and deception, as he was able to draw from a person's most cherished feelings and turn them against them by masquerading as someone they held dear.

• Illusions / Mental Manipulation: Through his mental abilities, He searches through the opponent's memories and discovers the identity of the person they love the most, as well as said person's mannerisms and personality. Then, by manipulating the enemy's mind, he makes them perceive him as that person.
• Salamander Shock: He concentrates all of his power at the palm of his hands and releases it in the form of an energy wave.

Kraken Isaac

Kraken Isaac is the Marina General of Kraken, and the guardian of the Arctic Ocean Mammoth Pillar. His notable personality traits are that of a cold and ruthless man, who has no emotion save for malice, and fights for the ideal of true justice, much akin to the concept of means justified by ends. Kraken Isaac shares a past with Cygnus Hyoga and thus becomes an important figure in the Saint's life.

• Aurora Borealis: This technique was almost on par with Aquarius Camus' Aurora Execution. The technique he employs that makes best use of the cold.

Siren Sorrento

The guardian of the South Atlantic Ocean Pillar and a virtuoso of battle music. Sorrento became suspicious of the Sea Dragon Mariner, concluding that Poseidon's resurrection and the ensuing war were the results of Sea Dragon's ambition and not Poseidon's. After Athena sealed Poseidon's soul and returned to the surface, Sorrento did the same and sought out Julian Solo, the former host of Poseidon's soul. Together they decided to travel the world and help the people that suffered in the catastrophe caused by Poseidon.

• Dead End Symphony: Sorrento's signature technique. He plays a song on his flute, which weakens his opponent to the point that they are unable to fight back.
• Dead End Climax: Once Sorrento reaches the climax of his song, the music he plays will kill his opponent by destroying their mind.
• Circular Barrier: Sorrento uses his flute to draw an imaginary circle, which becomes a physical shield able to protect him from attacks.
• Sound Waves: Sorrento moves his arm in a sword-like fashion and releases powerful sound waves that are able to knock down his opponents.

Sea Dragon Kanon

Kanon was the one person responsible for Poseidon's awakening, although he kept the sea god only partially awakened so that he could pose as the true leader of the Marinas as a Marina General and use Poseidon's army to achieve his desires. In order to do so, Kanon stole the Sea Dragon Scale and pretended to be the Sea Dragon General under Poseidon's order.

• Golden Triangle: Warps you to another dimension.
• Galaxian Explosion: Kanon's most powerful technique, with his Cosmo he creates an explosion or blast that at least has enough power to pulverize stars.
• Genrou Ken (Demon Emperor's Fist): An attack that strikes the mind of his foes witch makes them do his bidding.
• Star of David: Kanon erects a light barrier in the shape of a six-pointed pentagram that protects the user, as well as any allies, from attacks heading their way.
