Mafia In Death Note
The Mafia, allying with Mello, increases its influence and intends to possess the Death Note and gain power. It is stated that the organization is being used by Mello.
Mello Mihael Keehl is universally referred to Mello. Mello is introduced alongside Near as a potential substitute for L. Both Mello and Near were raised at Wammy's House, an orphanage established by Watari, L's assistant. However, Mello refuses to work with Near to capture a murderer dubbed Kira. Over the course of Death Note, he joins the mafia, obtains a Death Note, causes the death of some people, and dies before he can expose Kira's identity.
Rod Ross Rod Ross, real name Dwhite Gordon, is the head of the mafia Ross follows Mello's orders. His name is easily known, so Light kills him. His name is also mentioned as the leader of an arms syndicate who deals with the mafia.
Jack Neylon Jack Neylon, whose real name is Kal Snydar, is a member of Mello's gang. He is the holder of Sidoh's Death Note after it is given to the gang by the Kira investigation team. Before Mello joined, he was involved in drug trafficking and illegal weapons sales; neither charge stuck due to lack of evidence, despite four separate arrests. After Sidoh tracks down his Death Note, Jack was forced by Mello and Ross to perform the eye trade with the Shinigami. Light uses the Death Note to have him mail the address of Mello's hideout.
