Dio & His Zombies In Phantom Blood

Dio Brando
Dio is the main antagonist of Part 1 and Part 3. After becoming a vampire and later a Stand user, Dio has gathered around him many minions and is responsible for many major events of the series, from the death of Jonathan Joestar to the Joestar Family's sudden acquisition of Stand power, and his legacy persists throughout the series. He is the father of Giorno Giovanna, the protagonist of Part 5, as well as a handful of other illegitimate offspring.‎ His most recognizable characteristics are his boundless ambition and his love of power. After becoming a vampire, Dio's most obvious abilities are his raw strength, regeneration, blood-sucking tentacles at his fingers and near-immortality.
  • Zombie/Vampire Creation: During his time as a Vampire, Dio could create Zombies either from a living human or the cadaver of the deceased. The Zombies are also strong creatures, but less so than their vampiric creator.
  • Space Ripper Stingy Eyes: Creates two pressurized fluid jets from the eyes. Strong enough to cut cleanly through a stone column.
  • High-level Regeneration: The body is able to live even after having vital body parts amputated. It will regenerate and the body parts can reattach themselves. Vampires can also control their detached body parts. However, Vampires can still die if their head is damaged sufficiently.
  • Vaporization Freezing Technique: A freezing ability enabling vampires to freeze their own body parts and transfer the loss of energy by touch. It is able to cancel out the Ripple by freezing the blood in the user's body.
  • Fusion: An ability that allows a vampire to graft parts of different organisms together. Dio displays this ability by creating animal/human hybrid zombies as pets and later grafting his disembodied head on the decapitated body of Jonathan.
  • Flesh Buds: A vampire's cells can spawn these Flesh Buds and insert them into the brains of living beings to control them.

Wang Chan
Wang is originally a black market merchant in the slums of London, he becomes a faithful servant of Dio Brando after being transformed into a Zombie. As a human, Wang Chan was a fortune teller and an expert on oriental poisons. He successfully predicted that Dio would have great luck in his life, which proved to be true in his many near-death survivals. After being zombified, he appears to have retained his personality, though he shows a more bloodthirsty side and selflessly serves Dio. In terms of physical ability, he can jump great distances much like one trained in martial arts.
  • Claws: In battle, Wang Chan chooses to wear gloves with giant-sized claws. This way, he is able to increase his power and attack range.

Jack the Ripper
Jack is a serial killer who meets Dio Brando and is transformed into a Zombie sent to fight the Joestar Group. After being turned into a Zombie, Jack becomes even more insane than he was as a human. Incapable of feeling pain in his undead state, Jack uses this to his advantage - inserting sub-dermal scalpels all over his body. Jack also has incredible speed.
  • Scalpels: With the scalpels buried in his body, Jack is able to expel them merely via muscle contraction. He then throws these knives with pinpoint accuracy over great distances.
  • Monstrous Knife: Re-modeled from a Dark Ages torture instrument, Jack uses the knife to cut his foes to shreds.

Bruford
Along with Tarkus, Bruford was formerly a powerful knight from 16th Century Great Britain. Dying in disgrace, Bruford was resurrected as a Zombie by Dio Brando and is sent to fight Jonathan Joestar. As a knight, Bruford is supposedly a good fighter. It is stated that against the armies that fought against Mary Stuart, only Bruford and Tarkus could win. As a Zombie, his strength is multiplied and he can be seen scraping out a Zombie's nose with just his finger or swimming as fast as the Ripple can spread in water, allowing to escape an attack with minimal damage.
  • Luck: Bruford's Sword. As a knight, he was fairly proficient in using swords. When swung, the blade curves significantly to demonstrate its velocity. After being defeated as a zombie, he gave it to Jonathan and renamed it Luck & Pluck.
  • Danse Macabre Hair: After becoming a zombie, his hair amplified in power. This allows him to literally use it as a third arm and swing his sword with it. He is also able to expand it outwards at will to surround his enemies. After piercing an enemy's skin with his hair, Bruford can also use turgidity to force blood through the strands of his hair, an alternate method of bloodsucking.

Tarkus
Tarkus the Dark Knight was a knight from 16th Century Great Britain who was executed after losing a war. Resurrected as a Zombie by Dio Brando, he is wholeheartedly loyal to his new master and fights the Joestar Group. As a trained warrior and one of the only five knights to succeed in the 77 Rings Challenge, Tarkus possesses an incredible amount of physical strength and endurance. After being resurrected as a zombie, his brutality and power increases even more, making him capable of squashing people with his bare hands.
  • Chain Techniques: Tarkus is an expert at the Chain Neck Deathmatch, having killed forty-eight warriors in death matches.
  • Hell Heaven Snake Kill: Tarkus' signature technique. He jumps above his opponent while he manipulates his chain to strike them from below, cornering them from both sides. The chain wraps around his opponent and Tarkus pulls on it with enough force to tear a body in half.
