The Extermination Team in Hunter X Hunter
The Extermination Team is a group that Hunter Association Chairman Isaac Netero formed to eradicate a colony of giant Chimera Ants. Although originally composed only of Hunters, it later grew to include a few rebellious Chimera Ants. The group originally consisted of only three high-level Hunters, but Isaac Netero gave the chance to either Morel Mackernasey's two pupils or Knov's student as well as Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck to join the team. Eventually, all five became part of the group, in addition to two Chimera Ants.
Isaac Netero Isaac Netero was the 12th Chairman of the Hunter Association and the Head of the Exam Commission. In his youth, he was extolled as the most powerful Nen user in the world, and retained dreadful strength even in his old age. He had the greatest authority in the Hunter Association due to his status as chairman. He is also an extremely powerful practitioner of Nen, holding the title of the most powerful Nen master in his prime.
Morel Mackernasey Morel Mackernasey is a Single-Star Sea Hunter who uses a giant smoking pipe and smoke as weapons, and was one of the members of the Chimera Ant Extermination Team. He is also the master of both Knuckle Bine and Shoot McMahon. He is both a good strategist and an experienced, resourceful fighter. He uses his pipe not only for his Nen abilities but also as a melee weapon. He also possesses an unmatched lung capacity and strong spirit. By increasing the size of his muscles, he can enhance his strength and defense in preparation for a strong attack.
Knuckle Bine Knuckle Bine is a Beast Hunter and Morel's apprentice. He has demonstrated considerable physical combat skills, being able to fight enemies much stronger than him. Due to his ability, he has adapted a hit and away tactic together with Shoot against other Nen users, which consists of capturing or dealing the final blow after the target's Nen is sealed. Despite being a good strategist, Knuckle is also hot headed and very emotional, which can make him unable to stick to the plan. Thanks to his vast combat experience, he can estimate the general amount of aura an opponent possesses through physical contact or make more accurate guesses through prolonged observation by taking into account their output, stamina and level of skill.
Hakoware (Emission and Manipulation)
Shoot McMahon Shoot McMahon is an Unidentified Beast Hunter, Knuckle Bine's partner and a disciple of Morel Mackernasey. He has all the benefits granted by his status as a Hunter. He has demonstrated considerable combat prowess although his low confidence in his abilities has often proven an obstacle for him. His Nen abilities allow him to compensate for the loss of his left arm effectively.
Palm Siberia Palm Siberia is a Hunter and Knov's apprentice. After being captured by the Royal Guards, she is reborn into a Chimera Ant soldier. As a human Palm was a non-combatant. However she was an adept actress and infiltrator, as those skills aided her greatly during her undercover assignment under the guise of Bizeff's personal secretary. After being reborn as a Chimera Ant, Palm became physically stronger and had all the benefits that many Chimera Ants present. According to Killua, her raw power probably exceeds his own.
Ikalgo Ikalgo is an octopus-like Chimera Ant and a former Captain of Leol's Squad. After befriending Killua Zoldyck, he joins the Extermination Team in their mission to defeat the Chimera Ant King. As a Chimera Ant, he is capable of telepathic communication with other members of the same species. Although not a front-line fighter, Ikalgo is a reliable ally. His Nen abilities make him both a good sniper and infiltrator. He is also a Manipulator who can reanimate corpses.
Killua Zoldyck Killua Zoldyck is the third child of Silva and Kikyo Zoldyck and the heir of the Zoldyck Family, until he runs away from home and becomes a Rookie Hunter. As a member of the Zoldyck Family, he has vast wealth at his disposal. He has been trained since birth to become a human weapon and is recognized by his family to be the most talented assassin in the entire history of the Zoldycks. He developed a series of Nen abilities in which he alters the properties of his aura to make it similar to electricity.

- 100 Type Guanyin Bodhisattva (Manipulation): Netero summons a multi-armed gigantic statue of Guanyin. To execute an attack, Netero clasps his hands together after which one of the arms on the statue strike down upon his target in conjunction with Netero's hand motion. The procedure is repeated before every attack. The whole process can be carried out in far less than 0.1 seconds, up to thousands of times per minute.
- First Hand (Manipulation): After clasping his hands together, Netero performs a chopping motion, causing the bodhisattva to strike the target with a chop.
- Third Hand (Manipulation): After clasping his hands together, Netero performs a clapping motion, causing the bodhisattva to attack the target with a clap, crushing them between two of its hands.
- Ninety-Ninth Hand (Manipulation): After clasping his hands together and resting his right ankle on his left calf, Netero joins his thumbs and index fingers together, making a sign with his hands that looks like the number ninety-nine. The bodhisattva unleashes a barrage of palm strikes with all its arms, resulting in a massively powerful attack that can dig deep into the ground.
- Zero Hand (Emission, Manipulation, and Transmutation): This is Netero's last resort, meant to be used only when he cannot utilize any other of Guanyin's abilities. Netero first prays with all his heart, raising only one hand. The bodhisattva then appears behind his enemy and tenderly clasps them within its palms. Then, it focuses every last ounce of Netero's aura in its mouth before mercilessly firing it as an enormous flare of unparalleled destructive power.
Knov Knov is a Hunter who participated in the Chimera Ant Extermination Mission. He is also the master of Palm Siberia. He has all the benefits granted by his status as a Hunter. In battle, he mainly takes on a supporting role, but he has proven to be able to acquit himself well in open confrontations. He is a Conjurer with a teleportation ability called Hide and Seek.
- Hide and Seek (Conjuration): By touching a wall or the ground and drawing symbols in a circle, Knov can set and open a portal leading to an artificial Nen dimension—a 4 level mansion containing 21 rooms of various sizes. Each portal is linked to a specific room, with the maximum number of entrances being dependent on the size of the room. Each room is completely separate from the others. Normally each entrance can only lead back to the portal Knov created for it; however, Knov can use a master key to connect any room exit to any previously set portal.
- Scream (Conjuration): Knov has also been seen using his teleportation ability offensively. Scream allows him to open a portal between his hands and wrap it around his opponent. At the command "Close", the portal closes, causing anything that was inside of it to be sent to another dimension. With this ability, Knov can maim and kill opponents quickly and silently.

- Deep Purple (Emission, Manipulation, and Transmutation): This ability allows Morel to transmute his aura into smoke and to manipulate it. With the aid of his giant pipe, he produces great amounts of smoke which he can then shape in countless constructs fully capable of speech and with remarkable strength and speed. His most complex creations are the Smoke Troopers. He can create a maximum of 216 dolls. By sacrificing quantity to gain quality, he can compress that amount to 50.
- Smoky Jail (Manipulation and Transmutation): Morel encases himself and the opponent in an impenetrable barrier made out of smoke. The barrier appears to be unbreakable both from the inside and the outside.

Hakoware (Emission and Manipulation)
- A.P.R: Hakoware involves Knuckle emitting an indestructible mascot called the Amortizing Power Redirector (A.P.R.) onto the opponent. As long as A.P.R. is attached, any attacks done to Knuckle by his opponent return aura to him, lowering the counter. Until all of the aura lent by Knuckle is returned to him, he cannot be physically damaged by his opponent. The interest rate on A.P.R. is 10% of the borrowed aura, accrued every 10 seconds while the victim is within 50 meters of Knuckle. As the amount of borrowed aura accumulates, A.P.R. also grows in size. When the aura borrowed from Knuckle exceeds his opponent's total remaining aura, the opponent goes bankrupt.
- I.R.S: Bankruptcy causes A.P.R. to transform into the Individual Ren Suppressor (I.R.S.), a demon-like mascot that follows the debtor for 30 days and forces them into a continuous state of Zetsu. Knuckle can use Hakoware on multiple targets at once, as well as track their general location at all times, regardless of the distance. The ability can be removed by an Exorcist, but it takes a great deal out of the Nen remover. It is also cancelled if Knuckle is rendered unconscious.

- Imprint Conversion (Unknown): Shoot can turn pocket sized three-dimensional objects into imprints on the palm of his hand as well as to return them to their normal state without damage.
- Disembodied Hands (Conjuration and Manipulation): Shoot can conjure three disembodied hands which he then controls with Manipulation. He can coat them with aura and utilize them as projectiles capable of surrounding and pummeling the target, but also as diversions to close in on the opponent to activate Hotel Rafflesia. Despite Shoot always utilizing the hands in conjunction with Hotel Rafflesia's cage, the two abilities appear to be distinct from each other.
- Hotel Rafflesia (Conjuration and Manipulation): Through physical contact, Shoot can rob a target of specific body parts, corresponding to the area of impact, by shrinking them and teleporting them into his birdcage, potentially until their whole body is sealed off. The affected body part is replaced by a dark mist.

- Wink Blue (Unknown): Palm's ability Wink Blue requires her to cover her right eye, after which she becomes able to see the last three people her right eye gazed upon at the same time. If she looks at someone else with her right eye, it displaces the oldest target.
- Black Widow (Enhancement): Palm can wrap her entire body with her hair to form what seems to be a dress with a wide brim hat. This outfit, which changes shape according to her emotions, can efficiently protect her body from attacks, enabling her to concentrate all of her aura on attacking using Ko instead of splitting it between offense and defense.
- Merman Clairvoyance (Unknown/Former Ability): Palm's original ability allowed her to observe a target at any time through her crystal ball. To do so, she needed to see them with her own eyes and feed her blood to a dried merman corpse carrying the crystal ball.

- Fleadom (Conjuration): Fleadom allows Ikalgo to turn two of his tentacles into an air rifle. When residing inside a corpse, Ikalgo can use a special kind of giant fleas as rounds for the gun. The fleas can be conjured only if Ikalgo is puppeteering a corpse. If he is not, he can conjure regular bullets. The air gun needs to be recharged after every shot.
- Living Dead Dolls (Manipulation): Ikalgo is capable of inhabiting and taking control of a corpse, manipulating its movements, and utilizing its voice and Nen abilities. Although Ikalgo can manipulate a corpse, he is powerless to stop its decomposition
Meleoron Meleoron is a pacifistic chameleon-like Chimera Ant whose defining ability is to make himself invisible. His original name as a human was Jail. Even though he boasted the rank of Squadron Leader, Meleoron himself admits his fighting strength is only on par with a common soldier Ant. He fights primarily by ambushing his opponents with his natural ability to become invisible. In addition to his natural ability to turn invisible, he also has two secret Nen abilities unknown to other Chimera Ants.
Gon Freecss Gon Freecss is a Rookie Hunter and the son of Ging Freecss. Finding his father is Gon's motivation in becoming a Hunter. He has all the benefits granted by his status as a Hunter. He was often praised for his powers of observation, agility, and stamina. In battle, he thinks quickly for any alternative solutions and strategies. His most remarkable quality, however, is the bottomless potential he is gifted with. His Nen ability was called Jajanken.
- Perfect Plan (Specialization): While holding his breath, Meleoron can use an advanced form of his invisibility, becoming completely undetectable by the sight, hearing, smell, touch, preternatural perception or En.
- God's Accomplice (Specialization): God's Accomplice extends the effects of Perfect Plan to any person Meleoron is in physical contact with, for as long as he holds his breath and he maintains contact.
Gon Freecss Gon Freecss is a Rookie Hunter and the son of Ging Freecss. Finding his father is Gon's motivation in becoming a Hunter. He has all the benefits granted by his status as a Hunter. He was often praised for his powers of observation, agility, and stamina. In battle, he thinks quickly for any alternative solutions and strategies. His most remarkable quality, however, is the bottomless potential he is gifted with. His Nen ability was called Jajanken.
- Rock (Enhancement): Rock is a close ranged attack, and has the highest power out of Gon's three Jajanken attacks. To perform it, Gon focuses aura in his fist with Ko, chanting as he readies the attack. If he has time to build up his Ren, the punch will be even more powerful.
- Scissors (Trasmutation): Gon's mid-ranged Jajanken attack, requires him to transmute his aura into a long blade which he extends from his outstretched middle and pointer fingers. With the advantage of surprise, it was able to cut through a defense that had been estimated to be able to counter Rock.
- Paper (Emission): Paper is Gon's long-ranged Jajanken attack. He uses his Emission skills to hurl aura from his open palm as a spherical projectile. It has less than one-fourth of the power of Rock, despite the two abilities consuming the same amount of aura.
- Limitation Transformation (Unknown): By forming a Vow, Gon was able to summon all the power he will ever have, growing to a mature age. His physical strength, Nen abilities, aura output and aura reserves increased immensely. However, the price to pay was as great as the boost. His body started to decay and fell into a coma. Despite making a full recovery, Gon remained unable to see and use aura again.

- Lightning Palm (Transmutation): The first ability Killua named, as well as the most basic one in his arsenal, consists in him electrocuting his opponent by touching them with both palms and pushing them back.
- Thunderbolt (Transmutation): Killua leaps into the air above the opponent and projects a bolt of lightning from his fingers, paralyzing them for a few moments and causing them pain.
- Whirlwind (Transmutation): The first core function of Godspeed has Killua react automatically to external stimuli. Killua programs his aura to send an electric signal to his muscles so as to instantly react to a threat. Concretely, this results in a drastic boost to Killua's reaction time, which has both offensive and defensive uses.
- Speed of Lightning (Transmutation): The second application of Godspeed allows Killua to retain conscious control of his movements. His running speed and jumping ability increase dramatically. He uses it primarily to cover long distances in a very short amount of time. On unfavorable terrain, Killua's speed with Speed of Lightning is approximately 240km/h.
