7 Main Species In Claymore
Human Humans are the most numerous and dominant species known in both the Island and the Mainland. They are capable of transform into half-human, half-Yoma hybrid after an operation realised by The Organization, and become Claymores. Some humans are also capable of sensing Yoki, but are unable to realise what it is, calling it Sixth Sense.
Claymore Claymores are the center of the series. Named after the Great swords they wield, they are half-human, half-Yoma hybrid warriors of the Organization. Standard Claymore abilities include heightened physical strength, speed, durability and regeneration, limited shapeshifting and the ability to detect Yoma and other Claymores by sensing their Yoki. To further enhance these abilities, they access the powers of their Yoma half, releasing their Yoki.
Yoma Yoma are beings that feed on human flesh and blood. They can shape-shift into human form that allows them to live among humans. They are created by combining the flesh of both a humanoid and an Awakened Asarakam. Yoma have strength and speed beyond humans and can regenerate damaged bodies at incredible speeds.
Awakened Beings Awakened Beings are former Claymores who went over their 80% limit and Awakened. Their forms vary greatly and, similar to Yoma, have a desire to eat humans. Even so, they are much stronger than Yoma, who are often reduced to working for Awakened Beings as their underlings. For human, they are officially known as Yoma that have simply lived too long and as a result have become more powerful. This lie was made up in order to cover up the fact that it is actually Claymores themselves who become this bigger, stronger type of Yoma.
Abyssal Ones Abyssal Ones is the title given to some of the Awakened Beings who were formerly No. 1 Claymores during their times in the Organization. Until Clare's generation, there were three Abyssal Ones: Isley of the Northern Lands, Luciela of the Southern Lands and Riful of the Western Lands. During the Claymores' Rebellion, three new Abyssals were born: The Elegant Hysteria, Cassandra the Dust-Eater, and Roxanne of Love and Hate.
Abyss Feeders Abyss Feeders are a weapon created by the Organization. They are created from the flesh and blood of Awakened Beings. Their purpose is to hunt down and kill Abyssal Ones. The Feeders are blinded, have their mouths sewed up, and only respond to nearby movement. They have a level of power not unlike a higher level Awakened Being, however, they have an insane level of regeneration and very malleable bodies.
Asarakam A sentient race also called Dragon's Kin or Descendants of Dragons. In their original form, they look like humanoids with dark flesh and an organic armor while their transformed state is that of beasts with a human visage but covered in impenetrable scales and armed with sharp claws. The Dragons' Kins are shrouded in mystery as little is known about them as a race or their motivations in participating in a war between humans. The only certain thing about their biology is that these creatures are born with monstrous strength, resilience and regenerative powers.
