Kannagi Class In Log Horizon
Type: Healer
Role: Ranged DPS, Rearguard or Midguard Support
HP Level: Low
MP Level: High
The Kannagi is a spirit medium who talks to spirits and ancient gods. Because they are able to equip Japanese-style clothing, males are nicknamed Shinto Priests and females are called Miko; at level 40, Kannagi will receive clothing to fit those titles. This role is basically the Japanese equivalent of a Medium and it's similar to Druid but on a much weaker scale. However, they can augment other healers of a group, as well as act as battle surveyors.
A Kannagi's healing style revolves around damage interception, creating barriers around a single ally or the party. Thus, rather than healing damage after it's done, these techniques prevent damage from being taken in the first place. A barrier placed on a target can completely nullify a predetermined amount of damage. However, cast times are relatively long and it requires a lot of practice to get around. Successfully using this technique in a fight depends on the user's ability to predict the type and range of the enemy, making it hard to master.
There are three main builds for the Kannagi class:
When cast, Prayer to the Four Quarters creates black, white, red, and blue barriers, not unlike Purification Barrier, that forms a rectangular prism. It does not use a lot of MP, is sturdier than other barriers, has a near-instantaneous casting time, and can be used even when skills are prohibited due to an abnormal effect. Nonetheless, its 24-hour cooldown time makes it reserved for emergency situations.
Protective Barrier
Also known as Pentagram Barrier, the caster reduces the damage received by an individual ally. It is 4 times stronger than Purification Barrier, but has a longer cool-down time.
Purification Barrier
When cast, the caster reduces damage received by 5%.
A basic healing spell whose effect is common to all Healer classes. It is much less efficient than other Kannagi spells, and thus is used only when necessary.
Prayer of Recovery
It allows the caster to heal a small amount of HP to a designated individual. In return for the small amount of healing, it has a very low cooldown and casting time. It is often used in conjunction to the Cleric's Heal skill to speed up healing. When cast, this spell creates bright blue magatama jewels that surround the designated target and make the sound of small bells.
Prayer for the Soul
Prayer for the Soul is a spell that resurrects an ally who dies in a battle. It has a long casting time, and it uses a lot of MP. As a result, this spell is not practical for use in a battle field. The spell's cooldown time is 300 seconds.
Notice of Exorcism
This spell clears one debuff from an ally. It has a cooldown time of 20 seconds.
Kannagi's Finisher spell, akin to the Guardian's Castle of Stone or Enchanter's Infinity Force. It is learned after reaching level 50. The spell's target cannot be manually selected.
Firefly Light
This spell produces a source of light in the shape that vaguely resembles a firefly, allowing the caster and allies to see things in the dark. This magic is equivalent to Magic Light of Mage classes.

There are three main builds for the Kannagi class:
- Shaman/Prayer Miko: A support build focusing on damage reduction and healing, and sometimes attacks. Most Prayer-build Kannagis also act as battle surveyors because they aren't usually on the front lines.
- War Miko: An offensive melee build that uses a naginata or katana to attack, a rather risky move with only the defense of chain armor and a naturally-low HP.
- Bow Miko: A build specializing in ranged weapons and magic.
