Sakura Family Members In Chibi Maruko Chan

The series has a large number and variety of characters. Following are descriptions of the main characters and family members that appear frequently in all chapters and episodes.

Maruko 

She is the kind of girl usually lazy but has curiosity when she has something interesting. She has a kind heart and talks to people in trouble and thinks together to help. At home, she hesitates to help her mother and study, so her mother yells at her frequently. Though tends to be lazy and cheeky, she is a kind and funny girl. She likes drawing pictures, and also animals and plants. Her favorite food is pudding and hamburger steak.

Sakiko (Sister) 

Maruko's older sister. Very calm and helpful girl. She is sometimes astounded by or gets angry at Maruko when she is cheeky or does not behave, but most of time, she gets along with Maruko and gives a helping hand to her. Her favorite food is eels.

Hiroshi (Father) 

Maruko's father. Easygoing and optimistic. He seems carefree, often pretends to listen to or brush off Maruko, yet he is also reliable father. He likes drinking, watching baseball games and fishing. His favorite food is slices of raw bonito and boiled fish.

Sumire (Mother) 

Maruko's mother. She is down to earth person and good at cooking. Most of the time she scolds Maruko but usually forgives Maruko with her warm heart when Maruko apologizes unreservedly. She likes needlework, and her treasure is her opal ring. Her favorite food is steamed bean-jam bun and pan-fried noodles.

Tomozo (Grandfather) 

Maruko's grandfather. He usually spoils Maruko as he loves her so much. Easygoing person and easy to believe whatever Maruko says even she tricks him to get allowance. He feels blue when he gets a trick of Maruko, but he does everything for her in the end. The relationship between him and Maruko is deep that much. His hobby is writing HAIKU (Japanese seventeen-syllable poem) when he encounters incidents. His favorite food is boiled tofu, fermented soybeans and sea urchin.

Kotake (Grandmother) 

Maruko's grandmother. Very calm and a slow-tempo person. She nods in such atmosphere usually but makes shrewd observations sometimes. She knows a lot about traditional culture and often helps Maruko with her knowledge. Her favorite food is sugared beans, azuki-bean jelly and rice boiled with red beans.
