Fire Nation Royal Family In Avatar

The Fire Nation Royal Family is the ruler of the Fire Nation. Although it has dominated the country for centuries, the family has known great strife during its history, and was marked by brutal feuds and the struggle for absolute power. The list of royal members are shown below:

The Phoenix King 
In step one of his plan to destroy the world, Ozai bestows upon himself a new title “The Phoenix King.” Like the world being reborn in fire, Ozai will also be reborn, more powerful and dangerous than ever. He becomes so deluded that he believes he will become the supreme ruler of everything and everyone. His new title also necessitates a new outfit, robe and headpiece emblazoned with golden phoenixes.

Princess Azula 
Daughter to Fire Lord Ozai, Azula is Zuko’s 14-year-old younger sister. She is a lot like the typical “Little Miss Perfect” younger sister, only she is also a deadly Firebender. Azula has always been the favorite of the Fire Lord, and of everyone around her for that matter, everyone but Zuko. Azula excels at her royal role, she is extremely gracious, smooth and put-together. An ideal Princess, she is also cold, calculating, and precise. Zuko will tell you that Azula is “lucky.” Things just tend to turn out in her favor.

Uncle Iroh 
He is the brother of the Fire Lord and Uncle to Prince Zuko. He is like an old man in retirement, who would much rather soak in the hot springs or shop in an antique store than chase the Avatar. Nevertheless, he is a wise old man who was once a great general and he is a respected teacher to Zuko.

Prince Zuko 
Zuko is an incredibly focused, teenage Firebender who bullies and intimidates everyone around him. He is obsessed by only one desire, to capture the Avatar. Zuko’s greatest weaknesses are his arrogance and impatience. He believes Firebending is the most dominant art and can never be bested by Water, Earth, or Airbending. Zuko’s teenage overconfidence makes him believe he is invincible. Zuko charges into conflict impulsively and without precaution.

Ursa 
This is Zuko and Azula’s mom, and the wife of Fire Lord Ozai (before he became Fire Lord). She is a very sweet woman and a wonderful mother, but she is also very protective especially of her favorite child Zuko. Ursa was born to Fire Nation royalty and was raised as such. She was the perfect match for Prince Ozai and soon became his wife. Ursa spent most of her time raising her children to be good Fire Nation citizens and the ideal royal family.

Fire Lord Ozai 
Ozai was the Fire Lord and absolute ruler of the Fire Nation during the final years of the Hundred Year War. He was the second son of Fire Lord Azulon and the younger brother of Iroh. Ozai was a firebending master and, prior to the ending of the War, was believed to have been one of the most powerful firebenders in the world.

Fire Lord Azulon 
This is the first born son of Fire Lord Sozin and father to Iroh and Ozai. He was the Fire Lord of the Fire Nation for many years until he mysteriously died about six years ago. Fire Lord Azulon ran the Fire Nation much like his father did- with an iron fist. He was a frightening man who demanded perfection. Fire Lord Azulon, like every Fire Lord, is a master Firebender. In his time, he was considered one of the best in the world and no one would dare cross him. Azulon cared very little for the people of his nation and was more interested in world domination, a quality he passed down to Ozai.

Fire Lord Sozin 
Twelve years after betraying Roku, Sozin began the war by harnessing the power of the comet and wiping out the Air Nomads. After the comet, he lived for twenty more years, fathering Prince Azulon and eventually dying when he was 102-years-old. Some say the comet’s power allowed him to live for so long.

Avatar Roku 
It turns out that Aang is not the only one who has a connection with Roku. Zuko discovers that Roku is his great-grandfather on his mother’s side of the family, which means Roku was Ursa’s grandfather.

Young Zuko 
Just a week after his banishment, Zuko went to the Western Air Temple, looking for any signs of the Avatar. Because Zuko’s Agni Kai wound was still fresh he wore a bandage over his eye as it healed. This search yielded no trace of the Avatar, but it made Zuko determined to capture him at any cost.
