7 Memorable Traits Of Kenshin In Samurai X

These are the list of 7 memorable traits that we recall when we watch the series of Samurai X and see the figure of Kenshin Himura. Check this out:

Rurouni
Rurouni has a meaning similar or identical to that of the word ronin, which refers to wandering, masterless samurai. Within the scope of the series, the term Rurouni appears to refer to swordsmen who spend a period of time wandering in search of personal enlightenment to serve ordinary people in need rather than a lord. As such, these swordsmen tend to live on little to no income and have to make do with secondhand belongings or lodgings.

Hitokiri Battosai
Kenshin is a former legendary assassin known as Hitokiri Battosai. A Hitokiri is a swordsman sent out by an important or powerful figure for the express purpose of assassinating others. As the strongest hitokiri, he becomes the main target of many old enemies and people who want to gain his title. At the end of the Bakumatsu, he becomes a wandering swordsman and offers protection and aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed as an assassin.. His greatest fear is that, one day, he will return to his former self and become a hitokiri once more.

Sakabato
The Sakabato is the last of the strange swords forged by master swordsmith Arai Shakku and the main weapon used by Himura Kenshin in the series. However, unlike all his previous known works, the Sakabato is designed as a simple katana with its blade forged on the opposite side than normal, making it a sword incapable for killing. Two copies of the Sakabato were made, a kageuchi and a shinuchi, which eventually makes its way into the hands of Himura Kenshin.

The Legendary Scar
Kenshin's cross-shaped scar actually consists of two separate scars, a long one running diagonally down his face and a slightly shorter scar running diagonally across it in the other direction. According to his allies during his days in the Ishin Shishi, this scar was said to have constantly bled and never healed as the mark of a curse for having slain an innocent person.

Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu
Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu is the legendary signature fighting style of Himura Kenshin. It is an ancient kenjutsu style developed to allow a single samurai to defeat numerous foes single-handedly. Rooted in the concept of striking in a single blow, Kenshin uses a combination of immense speed and agility, battojutsu, and observation to anticipate an opponent's movements. The style commonly has him to keep one hand on the sheath at all times. However, Kenshin has modified the use of these techniques in accordance with his vow never to kill.

Real Name - Shinta
Kenshin was born into a peasant family under the given name of Shinta. After losing both his parents to cholera by age nine, he was sold into slavery. Later on, the slave-traders' caravan was attacked by bandits who killed all of the peasants except for Shinta, who was saved by a skilled swordsmaster named Hiko Seijuro. He renamed the boy Kenshin, as he felt that the name Ken (sword) and Shin (heart) were more fitting for a swordsman. He then informed his new ward that he would teach him everything he knew about swordsmanship.

Kenshin's Wives
In his past, Yukishiro Tomoe was Kenshin's first love and wife, Tomoe had an unparalleled effect on young Battosai's demeanor as she gradually eased him from a cold-blooded hitokiri into a soft-spoken, caring human being. After her death, Kenshin becomes a wanderer and meets Kamiya Kaoru who is moving gradually from dear friends to love interests to husband and wife, Kenshin and Kaoru share a relationship that serves as one of the largest focal points of the series.
